Location and Description

Smooth Operator Trail at Ridgeway Recreation Area, Carters Lake needs some love. We

will be cleaning drains (water mitigation features) on the east side loop of the Smooth

Operator Trail. This will be fairly easy work de-berming the drains on about 1-mile of trail.

Where to Meet and Directions

We will meet at the entrance to the Ridgeway Recreation Area before the pay station.

From Ellijay, head west 8 miles on Hwy 282 (stop light at the Dairy Queen). Turn left on

Dotson Rd. Continue 3-miles to entrance to Ridgeway Recreation Area.

What to Wear and Bring

We will work rain or shine. Please wear appropriate clothing for the weather, including:

work gloves, long pants, boots (preferred) or sturdy shoes. No open-toed shoes allowed!

Volunteers are also encouraged to wear a hat, sunscreen, insect repellent, and carry any

personal medical supplies (ie. epi- pen, insulin, inhalers). Volunteers must wear helmets

when performing work on USACE property. Bike helmets are acceptable, or helmets can

be provided.

Water and snacks will be provided. Volunteers are encouraged to bring a small backpack

to carry personal supplies.
